Moalboal 2011

Mabuhay, friends of Moalboal!!

Time is flying and Christmas is soon here. We are already seeing more
tourists than last month and this time last year. My guess is that the
flooding in Thailand and Vietnam has something to do with it.

I just uploaded to YOUTUBE, walking tour of Panagsama. It's crap and
shaking a lot but hopefully shows a bit of the beach:

Birgitta asked my to take
a few photos around Nelsons dive shop, but I made a movie instead. The
movie should be interesting for those of you that have not been back for
a few years.

I wish someone with a bit of talent could make a few movies that we can
add.

For those of you that have not visited Cebu City for a while: You will
be surprised. The whole city is transforming with new buildings popping
up everywhere. Cebu is booming and a lot of people from Manila are
moving there. I guess they have had enough of typhoons and traffic.

ACTIVITIES:

Pool tournament at Chili bar every Wednesday. Last Wednesday Pilo won
with 12 players. Go Nippon!

Soccer i mainly Jochen and young pinoy's at the moment but soon the
fat foreigner Mondays should start. Kick a bit and then drink beer.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

A second gas station has now opened behind Gelou Hardware store. I hope
they are more honest than the Petron gas station.

A new Pharmacy has opened up close to the Moalboal Market. the pharmacy
has aircon and a big selection.

Jurgen Ost died last week, after some time in the hospital.

PRACTICAL:

At the moment the
exchange rate is:
1 $ = 43.30
1 Euro = 58.3
1 Pound = 67.8
1 Swedish crown = 6.35

Beware when walking in Cebu this time of the year. I had two small girls
walking next to me singing christmas songs at the same time as they were
going for my pockets. Another version is that the girls starts to hold
your hand and then more girls come holding your arms with the last one
arriving forcefully going through your pockets when you are pinned down.

If your dive watch is running out of battery, "Timeline" can
change batteries on Citizen watches, they are RADO official service
center located on the left side when driving towards Country mall from
the city. 350 Peso with pressure testing.

"Watchworks" in Ayala are official TAG Heuer service center and
they charge 100 Pesos for a battery change. That's a bit cheaper
than doing it in Europe.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

To get the absolute latest whale shark sightings go to Chili Bar and
look at the notice board there. Anyone putting up a sighting receives
a free Ning-Ning drink.

Once you have taken a picture of your whale shark you should go to
http://www.whaleshark.org, they will
register the shark.

LETTERS FROM ABROAD:

Jurgen Ost of Quo Vadis died recently. You could say he was one of the
pioneers of the Panagsama we know today having set up a very fine resort
with the help of his wife at the time Ling Ling.

People would know him in different ways and by now we all knew how we
felt about him. He had his demons and as ever those closest to him
would suffer most from that. Non the less he was of us and among us
and something is lost in his passing.

These thoughts from English Jack
